'The Knitted Now'

Throughout this project I researched the social fabric and the relationships and connections we make with one another; making us all a part of the common thread of society as a whole. Positioning textile and its histories at the heart of this exploration, this project encompasses themes of globalisation, technology, labour, community and agency through processes that engage with textile as commodity, material and craft. This project also considers how a community is knitted together, relating to society or the way society is organised. It investigates processes of social development, from an early simple type of social organisation to one that is complex and highly specialised.
